More than four decades playin’ banjo and guitar and singing with his warm, velvety voice, Tim Stambaugh is the quintessential Americana/Bluegrass artists who delivers more than just music. His wry sense of humor and wit, fit elegantly into the presentations of his songs — original and nods to the finest writers — and which echo Appalachian story-telling with tales from the heart that make you giggle, swoon and sometimes, ..even make the tear drops start.
Tim began his career in music in Asheville NC, and moved to Carrboro and solidified his reputation as a banjo craftsman playing with Big Fat Gap Band for many year. His, own band —Tim Stambaugh and Friends— has been a staple of central North Carolina and has featured top players from around NC including Steve Watson, Don Wright, John Currie, and more. Tim plays banjo and guitar with the worst bluegrass band ever, The Guilty Pleasures.
Tim is an adept and agile artist whose sets include diverse styles of music: old-time traditional, Celtic, country standards, contemporary Americana and bluegrass…even a reggae tune is added in. His sets combine his eclectic and charming personality and wit and each song is delivered from the heart,… with passion…like he wrote it himself, and wrote it just for you.
